Beth Le Manach

IHA recently caught up with Beth Le Manach, a speaker at our upcoming event, The Inspired Home Influencer Conference, which will kick off the 2019 International Home + Housewares Show. Beth has been cooking and entertaining for over 25 years, and runs a successful site, Entertaining with Beth. Her cooking philosophy is “minimal effort for maximum impact”, which translates into simple recipes elegant enough for entertaining, but also easy enough for a weeknight meal.

Why is developing a niche important?
Beth: Small is the new big. There are so many blogs and content sites out there to choose from, and people want to need to connect with likeminded people, to belong to a group. The more specific that group is, the more people feel like they are understood and the more likely they are to engage.

And for content creators, it is actually easier to be really good at communicating with a smaller niche than it is to compete for large, broad audience attraction.

How did you go about figuring out what your niche was?
Beth: I’m going to go into more detail about my personal experience with that during my session, but the critical steps as I experienced them are:

  1. Look at who you are attracting and identify trends amongst those people
  2. Evaluate what the needs are of those people you are attracting
  3. Find ways to become helpful to those people

By virtue of developing a niche, you’re narrowing your audience; how does this impact your work with brands that are looking for mass?
Beth: Actually, the really savvy brands understand that being everything to everyone is a poor strategy today. They are looking to appeal to a “tribe” and those tribes gravitate toward more specific content that appeals to them directly. So, in my experience it’s actually created more opportunities for brand partnership.

Don’t miss Beth’s session, “Understanding & Refining Your Niche,” at the 2019 The Inspired Home Influencer Conference on Friday, March 1, 2019. Bloggers with a social footprint of at least 10K followers and social media influencers with a following of 50K+ are invited to attend. Click here to learn more and purchase tickets.

If you are an exhibitor interested in the speed networking portion of the conference, please contact Leana Salamah by February 19th.
