IHA Board Of Directors Welcomes Five New Members
David Elliott Elected Chairman of the Board

ROSEMONT, ILL. (September 25, 2014)-Five new directors have been elected to the board of directors of the International Housewares Association (IHA), the full-service trade association for the housewares industry.

The new directors are Richard M. Joseph, managing director, Joseph Joseph; Robert B. Kay, chairman & CEO, Taylor Precision Products, Inc.; Alejandro Peña, president, USA, Jarden Consumer Solutions; Paul D. Rowan, co-founder, Umbra LLC.; and Philippe P. Trudeau, president, Trudeau Corporation. They were elected to three-year terms that begin Oct. 1, 2014 and end Sept. 30, 2017.

Also elected were new board officers:

  • Chairman - Dave Elliott, general manager, KitchenAid Global Small Appliances
  • Vice Chairman/Chairman Elect - Gary Seehoff, CEO, Evriholder Products, LLC
  • Treasurer - Gregory Cairo, president, Groupe SEB USA

All officers serve one-year terms from Oct. 1, 2014 to Sept. 30, 2015.

Retiring from the board are Steven Fraser, chairman, Knightsbridge Global Ltd.; Michael Magerman; WilliamP. Reibl, president, Infusion Living, LLC; Erik Reid and Scott Severinson. Re-appointed for a second three-year term were Gregory Cairo; Anthony E. Kircher, president, Winix America.; and David Sabin, CEO, The Fuller Brush Company.

Joseph established Joseph Joseph, a designer and manufacturer of contemporary kitchenware, with his twin brother, Antony, in 2003. The London-based brand has become one of the fastest-growing companies in the worldwide housewares market, with functional products that embrace both good design and innovation.

Kay joined Taylor Precision Products in June 2012. The manufacturer of bath and kitchen scales, outdoor thermometers, kitchen tools and utensils and wine and bar accessories offers a portfolio of brands including Taylor, Salter, Rabbit, Houdini, EatSmart and Springfield. Kay previously served as executive chairman of The oneCARE Company from 2011-12 and executive chairman of Kaz, Inc. from 2005-11.

Peña joined Jarden Consumer Solutions in 1998. As President USA, he has responsibility for all sales, marketing and operations of the company's largest business unit, which includes brands like Mr. Coffee, Oster, Crock-Pot, Food Saver, Sunbeam, Margaritaville, Rival, Seal a Meal, and White Mountain. Throughout his tenure at Jarden, Peña has served in various marketing positions including senior vice president and general manager, Global Appliances; leader of the New Sources of Growth team, which brought to market brands including Margaritaville, Zarafina and skybar; and vice president/marketing for Mr. Coffee. Before joining Jarden, he worked for Rubbermaid Inc. in their Global Leadership Development Program and also holding various product management positions within their Juvenile Products Division.

Rowan co-founded Umbra in 1980 with childhood friend and entrepreneur Les Mandelbaum. For the past 34 years, Rowan has also held the title of vice president of design for the designer and manufacturer of casual, functional and affordable housewares and gifts. Umbra products are sold in more than 100 countries.

Trudeau is the fourth generation to run the family company that was established in 1889. In 1984 he joined the designer and manufacturer of kitchenware and housewares products, including barware, kitchen tools, mills and On the Go products. From 1988-93 he worked for Glaxo before rejoining Trudeau in 1993.

Elliott joined Whirlpool Corp. in February 2009. Whirlpool is the parent company of KitchenAid and the largest manufacturer of major and small appliances in the world. Before joining Whirlpool, he worked for Jarden Corp. from 1997-2009, where he was vice president of global marketing with responsibility for personal comfort and wellness products. During his tenure at Jarden, Elliott also served as vice president, global marketing, for Sunbeam Appliances and as president of Sunbeam Canada. He began his career in 1990 with General Electric in Ontario, Canada, where he held various sales and marketing positions. He was re-elected to the board last year and also served as treasurer in 2013-14.

Seehoff founded Evriholder Products in 1994 after inventing its first two products, Twirl A Tie® and Twirl A Belt®. He has built the company into one of the largest distributors of housewares impulse products in the kitchen, barware, cleaning, storage and bath & personal care categories. Prior to founding Evriholder, Seehoff was a partner and, for several years, managing partner at the consulting firm Duitch Franklin & Co., and before that was a manager at Touche Ross (now Deloitte & Touche) from 1984-87.

Cairo joined Groupe SEB USA as vice president of sales in August 2006, with responsibility for cookware and small domestic appliances for the Emeril, T-fal and WearEver brands. He was named president in January 2010 and oversees the cookware and small domestic appliances for the All Clad, Emeril, Imusa, Krups, Lagostina, Rowenta, T-fal and WearEver brands. Before joining Groupe SEB USA, Cairo served as the vice president for the Calphalon/WearEver Division of Newell Rubbermaid from 2000-04 and then with Global Home Products from 2004-06. He also serves on the board of the Cookware Manufacturers Association.

Also serving on the IHA Board are: Hildy Abrams, CEO, Gourmet Settings Inc.; Brett Bradshaw, president, Bradshaw International, Inc.; John Collins, partner/managing director, Neatfreak; Evan Dash, CEO, StoreBound; Keith Jaffee, chairman, O2 Cool and immediate past IHA chairman; Anthony E. Kircher, president, Winix America; Daniel Oehy, president, Swissmar; David Sabin, CEO, The Fuller Brush Company; Jenna Sellers Miller, president, Architec; Will Symonds, president, DKB Household USA Corp.; and Jay Zilinskas, managing director, Meyer Corporation.

Serving on the executive committee of the board are David Elliott, Gary Seehoff, Gregory Cairo, Keith Jaffee, Brett Bradshaw and Daniel Oehy.
