ROSEMONT, Ill. (Sept. 26, 2012)—Online retailers Organize.com and Cooking.com will share their strategies for success in this fast-growing retail channel as part of a panel of dot-com experts during CHESS 2012, Oct. 16 and 17 at the InterContinental Chicago O’Hare in Rosemont, Ill. Also participating will be online business solutions provider Group Price and retailing consultant the e-tailing group.
The panel includes Deborah Shearer, vice president, marketing & merchandising, Organize.com, Tracy Randall, co-founder and CEO, Cooking.com and Lauren Freedman, president, the e-tailing group. Jay Shaffer, COO of Group Price, will moderate the panel. Navigating the new world of selling to dot-com retailers requires an entirely new strategic sales approach. These experts, from both inside and outside the housewares world, will explain what tools and skills a supplier’s housewares sales team must develop to meet the needs of this emerging retail channel.
Seats are still available at the two-day strategic and networking event designed for chief officers of all IHA member companies and their top decision-makers. Other program highlights include:
- Keni Thomas, U.S. Army Ranger veteran of the “Blackhawk Down” mission and award-winning country music artist, will deliver a motivational keynote address on lessons in leadership, titled “Train as You Fight, Fight as You Train,” on the first day.
- A blue-ribbon panel of industry leaders will keynote the second day’s program with “Housewares Hot-Seat: Tough Questions for the Industry’s Top Influential Decision-Makers.” Panelists include Peter Cameron, CEO, Lenox Brands; Linda Graebner, executive chairman, Chef ‘n Corp., Shae Hong, president, Sensio Inc., and Jeff Siegel, president & CEO, Lifetime Brands Inc. Peter Giannetti, editor-in-chief of HomeWorld Business, will moderate the panel.
- Ken Harris, CEO at Kantar Retail Americas Consulting, will explore digital marketing in the housewares industry, in the closing presentation, “Digital Marketing: Time to Hit the Easy Button or the Panic Button?”
Other program topics address critical business issues including: an overview of global markets and trends, MAP pricing, a business climate forecast and updates on the 2012 election and industry issues. The mix of general and breakout sessions includes Q&A time with speakers after each session. Networking breaks, luncheons and a cocktail reception and dinner also provide time for attendees to network and meet informally with speakers, industry service providers and their colleagues—the most valuable part of the program according to past participants.
