news media registration guidelines
News Media credentials are given to working editorial news media only. Publishers, advertising representatives, advertising account managers, marketing managers, company presidents and public relations account managers are not considered News Media and must register for a Trade Guest badge.
To register for a News Media badge, you must be a qualified representative from one of the following news organizations:
- Trade Publication
- Consumer Newspaper
- Consumer or Business Magazine
- Radio Station
- Television Station/Network
- Newspaper or Radio Wire Service
- Internet-based Publication
- Blogger (see guidelines below)
Media Pre-Registration is
Closed. All Media Must Register On-Site in the News Center, Room N228.
Please Note:Show badges will not be mailed before the 2013 Show and should be picked up on-site. To expedite processing, please bring your email confirmation to the News Center (N228) in the North building.
Freelance writers or writers for Internet-based publications must submit clips with your byline or a link to articles with your byline to Debbie Teschke, dteschke@housewares.org, before media credentials will be approved.
Blogger Registration Criteria
- You must do regular blogging on products or discuss products as part of lifestyle commentary.
Most recent content posted must be less than one month old. To be considered for News Media
credentials, you must submit links to housewares-relevant coverage on your blog/website.
Please send your links to Debbie Teschke, IHA Manager of Public Relations and Communications,
at dteschke@housewares.org We will evaluate your blog to see if your content meets our
criteria.
- If your blog is solely about product giveaways, contests or product couponing you are not
considered News Media and must register as a Trade Guest. Pre-registration for Trade Guest is
free; onsite it is $100 per badge.
- Business/Advertiser-sponsored blogs are not considered News Media and must register as a
Trade Guest.
- News Media credentials are issued for editorial purposes only. You must register as a Trade
Guest if you plan to solicit exhibitors for advertising or sponsorships on your blog/website. This
rule applies even if you plan to write about the products along with soliciting advertising. If you
plan to enter into any business discussion with the exhibitor, you are considered a Trade Guest.
- If you are being sponsored by a Show Exhibitor to attend the Show, you must register as a Trade
Guest and not News Media.
- Soliciting products from exhibitors for giveaways or contests is prohibited.
- Show policy is that product cannot be removed from the Show floor. Please do not ask the
exhibitor for a product to take home to review. If you wish to review a product, ask the exhibitor
to send it to you after the Show.
- The Housewares Show is a B2B trade event and for business purposes. It is not open to the
public so please do not invite the public to attend.
- Family, spouses, children and friends are not permitted to attend with you.
- IHA reserves the right to change your badge classification at any time.
