Background – Retailing & Visual Merchandising Expert Jurors:

Martin Pegler is a professor at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York in the Display & Exhibit Design Department. A leading expert in his field for over 50 years, Martin hosts seminars in the United States as well as in Latin America, Europe and the Pacific Rim. He has authored over 60 books and his textbook, Visual Merchandising and Display, is used in universities around the world. Recently, the Professionals for the Advancement of Visual Education presented Martin with a lifetime achievement award. He has also been inducted into the Visual Merchandising and Display Industries’ Hall of Fame and is an elected member of the Society of Visual Merchandisers.

Wolfgang Gruschwitz is the owner and Managing Director of the Gruschwitz Corporation – based in Munich and with offices in Vienna and Moscow – which offers full-service store design and visual merchandising expertise to retailers. Serving high profile clients such as ZARA and Burberry, he also lectures at the European Retail Trade Institute and the Retail Trade Academy. A most notable assignment is the ongoing transformation of the World Cup stadium in Munich, where he has turned 64,000 square feet-6000 square meters—into branded retail space for such global brands as Medion, Allianz and Audi in addition to space for restaurants and public areas.

Scott Kohno is the President and CEO of the Retail Element, an international retail marketing and store design firm specializing in creating new retail concepts with offices in Los Angeles, Tokyo, Singapore and Manila. With over 20 years of experience, Scott has worked with clients including Macy’s, Federated, May’s Department Stores, NASDAQ Times Square, MGM Grand, Disney and Geary’s Beverly Hills, and is known for creating distinctive, brand-building retail environments. His firm specializes in branding strategy and marketing, merchandise planning, store design and graphics, visual presentation and point-of-sale communication. Scott is a frequent guest speaker at retailer associations worldwide.
