As Housewares Show Nears, Suppliers Bring Positive Attitude to Chicago

ROSEMONT, ILL. (March 16, 2009)—With just days to go before the 2009 International Home + Housewares Show, exhibitors are making final preparations for presenting their new product lines to more than 20,000 buyers from around globe who are expected to attend the Show. The 112th gathering of housewares industry will be held March 22-24 at Chicago’s McCormick Place. It is sponsored by the International Housewares Association.

“Despite the challenges posed by the current environment, the Housewares Show will allow Rubbermaid the opportunity to reveal our new consumer-driven innovation and comprehensive marketing plans t the marketplace,” says Todd Boerema, vice president of sales and channel marketing at Rubbermaid.

Another leading cleaning products manufacturer, Butler Home Products, believes the current economy will help sales.

“Our expectations are running a little higher this year due to the tough economic environment – retailers and consumers are still looking for new and innovative products and that is something we focus on,” says Michael Silverman, vice president of Butler Home Products, LLC. “The big difference this year is Value…For our product category, in good times or bad times you need to clean your house. In tougher times people are staying home more and thus value a clean home even more. They are doing their own cleaning instead of having someone else do it for them.

The Show is the one time of the year that Butler can display their products in the way they envision them to be merchandised at retail, Silverman explains.

“Our objectives for the Show this year are similar to those of shows past—launch our new products to the marketplace, meet with our current customers, meet with new and prospective customers from around the world and create the foundation for our continued, growth,” Silverman says. “The Housewares Show is the best place to connect with our retail partners and make sure we are doing all we can to drive business together for 2009!”

Buyers cans still register for a no-charge badge through the Show’s website at www.housewares.org. The Show features thousands of housewares and homegoods products for every room in the house, apartment or condo — and outdoor living, too. From high-end international design to trend-setting basics, products range from kitchen electrics and small appliances to gourmet specialty foods and cookware, from bakeware and kitchen tools to home decor, space organizers and storage systems, home healthcare and home-office to pet supplies and lawn and garden decor.
