U.S. and Canadian Buyer Registration Up Nearly 10% For March
Housewares Show

ROSEMONT, ILL (January 20, 2009)—With 9 weeks until the unveiling of the 2009 International Home + Housewares Show in Chicago, buyers are making a strong statement about their intention to merchandise their way through challenging times.

The International Housewares Association (IHA), not-for-profit sponsors of the Show, reports that U.S. buyer registration is up just over 10 percent and up 8 percent for Canadian buyers. In addition, buyer hotel reservations for the Show are also significantly ahead of last year, matching the pace of registrations.

“Our North American buyers are telling us that March will be critical to them as they look to emerge from a difficult year,” said Phil Brandl, IHA president. “In our recent meetings and conversations with buyers, it is clear that they will be aggressively scouring the Show for new products and innovative, sales-driving programs that will ignite their business.”

The International Home + Housewares Show will be held March 22-24 at McCormick Place in Chicago. The Show will feature 2,000 exhibitors and include over 200 new exhibitors across all categories of home goods and housewares.
