Whether it is hiring/terminating employees, liability for the actions of your employees, contract development, or antitrust rules, legal issues are more prevalent today than ever. Where there may seem to be an endless supply of topic matter, this section will attempt to address legal matters that seem to be of great concern to members.

Intellectual Property Rights: Have you spent precious resources to develop and protect your organization’s intellectual property, including copyrights, trademarks, and patents?

State Nexus Causing Tax Liability:  Have you been notified by another state’s revenue department that they’ve determined your organization to have a tax nexus to their state, resulting in possible sales, use, franchise, or income tax liability?

Alternative Dispute Resolution:  U.S. civil litigation costs are escalating to $200 billion - $300 billion annually. This new initiative by IHA can save members—both large and small—time and money relating to litigation and the escalating costs associated with defending a company against legal claims of all types.
