Shopko has differentiated itself from its mass competitors and has eased the consumer shopping experience with the rollout of a new store format featuring expanded cross merchandising and home-inspired product presentations. Their home products departments including housewares and furniture are all receiving dramatic makeovers. The housewares department features products on gondolas that are more open, and the chain’s small electrics assortment is merchandised on butcher-block countertops that offer a kitchen-like look.
At Shopko, the palette for the furniture and housewares departments is beige and cinnamon respectively, while key soft lines departments are highlighted with soft green, soft purple and yellow. Lifestyle graphics utilizing images of families taking part in a variety of activities from playing video games to competing in sports serve to highlight departments throughout the stores.
Located just north of Green Bay, the 80,000 square foot Suamico store is the first new Shopko store built by the retailer in six years and is a positive indication of things to come.
